Protecting Mangroves in Xiamen

Our Initiatives in China

In 2018, we joined China Mangrove Conservation Network to enhance the protection of mangrove swamp, the guardian of local ecosystem, in Haimen Island, southeast China's Fujian province.

By adopting a conservation land for one year, we conducted planting and post-planting management work such as coastline cleanup and invasive species removal.

Local villagers and volunteers have planted around 30,000 mangroves. They were also involved in the duties like patrolling, fence repair and garbage disposal.

Mangrove plays a vital role in protecting the coastlines, coping with climate change, purifying water, and providing abundant seafood. It also compensates some of the carbon footprint by two of our joint ventures operating in the province.
