Hao Peng, secretary of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee，and chairman of the Standing Committee of People's Congress of Liaoning province, met with Aramco Asia President Mutib Al Harbi.
On behalf of provincial Party Committee and government, Hao extended his welcome to Al-Harbi and appreciation for Aramco's long-standing support in the revitalization of Liaoning.
He noted the traditional China-Saudi friendship goes back to ancient times. During President Xi's state visit to Saudi Arabia in December 2022, the two heads of state co-signed in person the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, opening a new era for bilateral cooperation.
Under the rapid development of friendly bilateral cooperations, the economic and trade ties between Liaoning and Saudi Arabia also made great progress, particularly in March this year, with the commencement of Huajin-Aramco fine chemical and raw materials project, pushing the bilateral cooperation to a new high.
Being an important industrial base in China, Liaoning enjoys the advantages of strong industrial structure, abundant human resources, locational prominence, deep historical and cultural heritage, and rich natural resources. Liaoning Party Committee thoroughly implements the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important instructions and makes every effort to carry out the three-year action plan for comprehensive revitalization. The provincial economy has remained stable, and the overall growth rate is higher than the national level over the past six months.
Petrochemical industry is an important pillar in Liaoning, and Huajin-Aramco project underpins the objective of building Liaoning to a trillion-yuan industrial base for petrochemical and fine chemicals. Currently, the project design, procurement, construction, and investment promotion for industrial chain have been progressing well.
Liaoning attaches great importance to the construction of the project and is doing its best to provide services and support. Liaoning hopes Aramco provides continuous supports to project construction and works with us and NORINCO to make the project a role model for China-Saudi strategic cooperation.
Al-Harbi expressed his gratitude for the strong support lent to Huajin-Aramco project and spoke highly about the economic and social achievements in Liaoning. He noted Aramco and Liaoning have traditionally friendly cooperation, and the project is a crucial part for the planning and development of the petrochemical industry in China, which will greatly support the revitalization of the northeast region and Liaoning province.
Liaoning is an important gateway and frontier zone enroute the Eurasian Continental Bridge. It also has a strong industrial base and is rich in talents, which have laid the foundation for further cooperation between the two sides. Aramco is willing to expand cooperation with Liaoning in new energy, procurement, sci-tech innovation based on the current cooperation in the petrochemical industry. It will also, as in the part, fully support the Huajin-Aramco project, bring win-win outcome, and ensure growth in Liaoning.
Management staff from Aramco Asia, and Wang Jian, member of Provincial Standing Committee and deputy governor, also attended the meeting.
