Mushabab Al Qahtani, Aramco Asia China Country Manager, joined the panelists for The Dialogue; a prime-time Chinese-language talk-show on China Central Television (CCTV), to discuss Aramco’s downstream strategy in China and the emerging technologies on the sideline of the second China Media Group (CMG) Forum on July 20 in China’s financial hub Shanghai.

Featuring the theme of “Opening-up, Inclusiveness, Mutual Benefit”, the event brought together 200 participants from China and abroad to facilitate in-depth discussion on major issues from global perspectives.

Throughout the panel discussion, Al Qahtani expounded Aramco’s new opportunities for investment, including those brought by the industrial transformation and new roles under the dynamic global circumstances, with support of recent major corporate projects. As examples, he mentioned the recently announced HAPCO joint venture, Rongsheng’s share acquisition, the Nonmetallic Excellence and Innovation Center (NEXCEL) in Beijing, and the integrated steel plate manufacturing complex with BaoSteel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al Qahtani noted, “China is obviously among our most important customers, and we are immensely proud of our relationship with the country. In addition to our ongoing and future potential collaborations on refining and petrochemical projects in China, we also intend to work with Chinese companies for further opportunities through our leadership in renewable energy, carbon emissions reduction and lower-carbon energy solutions.”

“We are well positioned to explore these opportunities in the energy industry by leveraging our strengths including a reliable energy supply, lower upstream carbon intensity, operational excellence, technological capabilities, R&D efforts, and promotion of potential alternative energy solutions. At Aramco, we continue to invest in our technological capabilities and leadership, and this includes a wide range of collaborations and projects in China.” Al Qahtani added.

Al Qahtani was invited as a guest of honor by CMG for the two-day event, where he also attended bilateral meetings with CMG executives to explore ways for closer collaboration with state media.
