Aramco Asia President attends China-GCC Countries Forum on Industrial and Investment Cooperation

Saleh Y. Al-Zaid, President of Aramco Asia, held talks with Cui Yonghui, Party chief of Xiamen, to explore further cooperation opportunities on the sideline of the China-GCC Countries Forum on Industrial and Investment Cooperation.

On behalf of Saudi Aramco, Aramco Asia President Saleh Y. Al-Zaid attended the China-GCC Countries Forum on Industrial and Investment Cooperation in Xiamen, southeast China’s Fujian province on May 23 – 24.

With a theme of “Embracing the Future: Advancing High-Quality Industrial and Investment Cooperation between China and GCC Countries”, the event was co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission and the People’s government of Fujian province. Furthermore, the event was attended by a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Minister of Investment, including over 100 government and business executives, which is the strongest lineup among all GCC countries for the forum this year.

The forum highlighted the synergy between the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the development strategies of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, the joint efforts toward greater regional connectivity and growth, and the long-term collaboration and mutual benefit among member states.

President Zaid also held talks with Cui Yonghui, Party Chief of Xiamen, and Wei Dong, the mayor of Zhangzhou City to explore further cooperation opportunities on the sideline of the forum.

Zaid noted that Aramco attached great importance to cooperation with Xiamen and looked forward to expanding business there. He also hoped the two sides could strengthen collaboration in terms of new energy, new materials, and talent development, which could generate more pragmatic results.

The two-day event attracted senior business leaders from major Chinese companies, including the chairmen and presidents of CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC and NORINCO, all being key local partners to Aramco.
